Italian L2 courses for foreign students (Italiano L2)
The Linguistic Centre of the University of Ferrara offers Italian courses in preparation for university classes, both in the first and second semester (September - November / January - June).
Who can have access to the courses
- students taking part to university exchange programs
- foreign students enrolled in degree programs, specialization courses and PhD programs.
- students of the Conservatorio G. Frescobaldi
- foreign guests of the University of Ferrara
Duration and structure of the courses
During the semester, the courses will be organized into three different levels: A1, A2 and B1.
Each class will have a maximum of 20 students and the levels will be defined after taking a preliminary test.
The classes will be held from Monday to Friday, depending on teachers' availability, and they consist of 30 hours with the teachers + 10 hours of self-learning.
The classes will be organized as follows:
- during the first week our teachers will have online interviews with the students, in order to verify and confirm their level;
- the classes will be held online for two weeks;
- a one-week break will follow;
- the course will restart in person for three weeks;
- the final tests will take place at the end of the course.
- Registration opens: January 7, 2025
- By January 27: Written and oral entrance tests
- February 3-16: First part of the course, intensive and online (3 lessons per week)
- Break: February 17-23
- February 24-March 23: Second part of the course, in person (2 lessons per week)
- March 24-30: Final exams

In order to be admitted to the Italian courses, it is necessary to follow three steps:
1) fill the application form;
2) pay the fee :
The enrollment to the course will only be official after the payment of the fee. There are different fees according to the type of program each student is part of. Please pay attention and choose the correct option while paying.
- students participating in exchange programs - first course: 60 euros;
- students participating in exchange programs - second course and following: 130 euros;
