Italian L2 courses for foreign students (Italiano L2)
The Linguistic Centre of the University of Ferrara offers Italian courses in preparation for university classes, both in the first and second semester (September - November / January - June).
Who can have access to the courses
- students taking part to university exchange programs
- foreign students enrolled in degree programs, specialization courses and PhD programs.
- students of the Conservatorio G. Frescobaldi
- foreign guests of the University of Ferrara
Duration and structure of the courses
For the first semester of 2025/2026, three courses are scheduled to be offered (A1, A2, B1/B2).
Information about the upcoming courses:

Registration, course fee payment, written placement test: August 19 – September 28 (until all spots are filled)

Oral placement test: October 2 – 7

Course dates: October 13 – November 15. Schedules will be sent via email to registered participants

Written and oral exams: by November 16

Format: Blended (online classes via Google Meet and in-person sessions at the Language Centre, Via Scienze 41b)

To join the Italian language courses, follow these steps:

Fill out the online registration form at this link
Complete the form within the deadlines specified in the “Duration and structure of the courses” section on this page.
Early registration is strongly recommended, as the registration date will help determine your class placement.

Pay the course fee at this link
Payment is required for both enrollment and attendance.
Please note: No refunds will be issued in case of withdrawal. -
Take the written and oral placement tests
After your payment is received, the administration will activate your account and send you a link to take the written placement test. The oral placement test will be online approximately one week before the beginning of classes.
Both tests are necessary to assign you to the correct level.

Class assignment and course details
Based on your test results, you will be placed in a group with others at the same level (up to 20 students per group). You will receive the course calendar.
Students who have not paid will not receive these details.
Important
Registration closes when classes are full. Once the maximum number of students is reached, enrollment will be closed.
Students who do not complete the placement test and/or oral interview will be excluded from the course.

International students (enrolled in degree, specialization, or PhD programs, or at the “G. Frescobaldi” Conservatory) – first course: €80.00

Note: International students without an Italian tax code must check the “Anonymous” box when filling out the payment form.
