COLOURS | Summer School on Socio-Environmental Vulnerabilities and Sustainable Transitions
We are pleased to announce an upcoming Summer School, scheduled from May 5 to 31, 2025, focusing on Socio-Environmental Vulnerabilities and Sustainable Transitions. This international programme, organized by COLOURS, will bring together students, researchers, and lecturers from six partner universities (including Unife), offering a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Programme Overview:
- Resilience and Vulnerability: Participants will explore the interplay between resilience and environmental and social vulnerabilities. The program will provide perspectives from various disciplines, including anthropology, environmental preservation, local development, slow tourism, landscape and cultural heritage, and communication, with a focus on regions at risk due to climate and social factors.
- Sustainability Research and Education: The course will address ecological, digital, and social sustainability through multidisciplinary and challenge-based approaches. Key topics include wetlands, biodiversity, human activities, heritage preservation, and sustainable tourism for local and regional development.
- Case Study: Ferrara and the Po Delta Region: Participants will examine the challenges of water management, tracing the evolution from the Renaissance city of Ferrara to contemporary sustainable transitions.
Programme Structure:
- Virtual Component (May 5-19): The programme will commence with virtual sessions, including an introduction to the Summer School's objectives, participant presentations, and the organization of working groups. Participants will engage in research using the participatory fanzine tool.
- On-Site Activities in Ferrara (May 24-31): Participants will conduct fieldwork in the Ferrara Delta region, including a visit to the historic Marozzo reclamation plant and its eco-museum. The programme will feature interactions with local experts and authorities, as well as a workshop on wetland management, co-hosted with Consorzio di Bonifica Pianura di Ferrara.
- Cultural Exploration: Participants will have the opportunity to explore the Renaissance city of Ferrara through guided tours of the citadel, castle, and cathedral.
